Geologic History of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
June 24-26, 2009

The rock layers in GSENM between the top of the Grand Canyon and the base of the Pink Cliffs of Bryce Canyon speak to us about one of the most fascinating chapters in earth history, the rise and fall of the dinosaurs. Join a geologist and paleontologist as they explore the landscapes and creatures that flourished in southern Utah between the two greatest extinction events in the history of the planet. The evening prior to the field excursion will include an after dinner talk and slide show. The following two days will be spent in the field driving to spectacular exposures of strata representing two hundred million years of geologic time. The excursion will include short hikes, less than a mile. High clearance vehicles required. CEU's available through Southern Utah University.
