Everett Ruess Days - Escalante Canyons Art Festival

This annual festival celebrates Everett Ruess, an artist and explorer who disappeared at the age of 20 from the Escalante area in 1934. The festival is an arts and literary gathering that aims to welcome people to the stunning landscapes in this area of Utah, particularly the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Sept. 25, 2010 - Tidy Ridey

Park Ranger William James and Tony Wright and Ray Wells of Anasazi ATV Adventures will lead an ATV/UTV ride on National Public Lands Day this year.  The ride in spectacular Nephi Pasture will be mostly recreational but will also include trash pickup at our stops in appreciation of our great public lands. The ride will feature fantastic scenery, mind-boggling geology, mysterious rock art and dinosaur footprints from eons ago.

Participants may bring their own ATVs or UTVs or arrange rental and
training from Anasazi the day before by calling 435-644-8957. Riders are
responsible for their own safety and those that rent must follow company
policy. Wear a sturdy pair of shoes or boots and sunscreen.  A helmet, long
pants, long sleeves, and gloves are all strongly recommended. Bring plenty
of water and don’t forget the camera! Also don’t forget bungee cords to
strap the trash bags to the quads.

Participants will meet at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
Visitor Center on the east side of Kanab near Walker’s Truck Stop at 8am.
All participants must register for National Public Lands Day. Registrants
receive a T-shirt, a goodie bag, and a free lunch after the ride at 12 noon
at Jacob Hamblin City Park.  Signups begin on Saturday, September 11th and
may be made in person or by phone by calling 435-644-4680. Participation is limited to 25, so please call ahead.
